3 Tips to Effective Dog Training- A must Read Before you Train your Dog

Age: The saying you can’t teach an old dog new trick might not be practical but the fact holds; an older dog is a nightmare to train. This is the case because their alleged bad habits tend to stick with them longer than a puppy. Well the solution here is to start when they are still puppies preferentially when they are first able to walk on their own.

Training session: Always reward you dog when he accomplishes your training expectations. This would be done best by identifying what kinds of treats your dog responds to the most. If they prefer the bone over the meaty treat, then cut one into little pieces only during the training process. Reward them and continue training.

Stick to a set of words each time you prepare for the training session or when you prepare them to go outside and while you accompany them to them on their walks. Patience too is a factor. You don’t expect results from your dog in seconds and make sure you go slow on them. When they are doing their business it may make them uncomfortable but praise them and at least name what they are doing with a happy tone I your voice. Remember they too have instincts.

Who wouldn’t want to be recognized for doing something goo and reprimanded when they’ve done something wrong? Remember they’ve got instincts too. You now understand what I am trying to drive home here. It makes the learning process run rather smoother. Don’t ever doubt what your dog is capable of doing. They are smarter than we think!

The signs: At this point I guess we are making a lot of progress. Watch for the signs. Once your dog has gotten used to the daily routines of training or going outside, the will start showing signs such as pawning at your leg, staring at their leash or treat bags- Watching the door; scratching or laying by it. May be randomly barking or whimpering. Don’t ignore them because they might hit you with what you least expect. You know what I mean. The accident is just about to happen if they can’t hold it anymore.

If your dog is barking unnecessarily then you check the dog barking control device. For instance if a small dog is yipping all the time not only when it wants to go outside, then a small dog bark collar would just do you the best. Otherwise check the next post for how to stop your dog form barking.
